Cartonnage for a mummy, with representation of the four sons of Horus

Inventory number: FT 207
Photo Michel Lechien, Musée royal de Mariemont

This fragment comes from around the mummy’s ankles. From top to bottom we see the four sons of Horus (Amset and Hâpy, Duamutef and Qebehsenouf) represented in a mummiform manner, with Isis and Nephthys, both kneeling above the hieroglyphic sign for gold. These six figures are traditionally associated with Osiris, and watch over the viscera and remains of the deceased.
